Passenger journey

A clearer path from request to pickup.

Passengers should not need a complicated system to understand what happens next. The trip flow stays simple on purpose.

1

Request a city-to-city ride, choose your pickup and drop-off points, and submit your timing.

2

The matcher looks for a verified driver whose route, timing, and seats fit your request.

3

Share the trip with a guardian or next of kin if someone needs visibility while you travel.

4

Board with your pickup PIN, complete the trip, and rate the experience afterwards.

Passenger trust

The trip should feel organised before anyone leaves home.

Passengers need speed, clarity, and enough trust signals to know the trip is being handled properly.

Verified drivers

Drivers are reviewed before they can offer routes on the platform.

Pickup PIN

Use the trip-specific code when boarding the matched vehicle.

Guardian sharing

Share useful trip context with family or next-of-kin contacts.

Profile readiness

Passengers complete profile and emergency contact details for support readiness.

Who can use it

Not just students. Not just weekends.

Hikingspot is for anyone travelling city to city on supported routes, whether that trip is for work, study, family, or getting home.

The first operating focus is Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Polokwane, with more Gauteng and Limpopo routes added as verified driver supply and passenger demand grow.

Passenger FAQ

Questions before requesting your first ride.

Trip details in the app remain the final source of truth, but these answers should make the first decision much easier.

Drivers post spare seats on city-to-city trips and passengers request rides. The matcher connects compatible routes, timing, seats, pickup and drop-off points, request order, and the nearest viable driver route. Once matched, passengers get a 4-digit pickup PIN.
